Permission levels
Understand the difference between Owner, Editor, Commenter, and Viewer roles.
Workspace roles
Section titled “Workspace roles”Workspace roles apply to your internal team members.
| Role | Capabilities |
|---|---|
| Owner | Everything, including billing and deleting the workspace |
| Admin | All content plus member management, excluding billing |
| Editor | Create, edit, and delete projects and files |
| Viewer | Read-only access to all shared content |
Portal roles
Section titled “Portal roles”Portal roles apply to external client contacts inside a specific client portal.

| Commenter | View files and leave comments |
| Viewer | View files only — no commenting |
| Approver | View, comment, and submit approval decisions |
| Downloader | View files and download originals |
Folder-level overrides
Section titled “Folder-level overrides”You can restrict a member’s access on a per-folder basis to be more restrictive than their workspace role — but you cannot grant more access than their role allows.
Changing roles
Section titled “Changing roles”Workspace roles can be changed by any Admin or Owner via Settings → Members. Portal roles can be changed from the Portal → Members page for the relevant client.
